- Description
-
This sample was collected from the Ediacaran Period (ca. 550 Ma) Blueflower Formation in the Mackenzie Mountains of arctic Canada in 1994. The elephant skin is interpreted as the remains of a microbial mat on which, or beneath which, Ediacara organisms lived.
This sample was contributed by Dr. Jay Kaufman of the University of Maryland.
