Another heads up prior to the Stitch 2.0 release announcement… This new release has a quite bit of improvement in various algorithms used to properly assemble a panorama image. It’s leaps and bounds ahead of the Stitch application currently in use, although still easy to use. With that in mind, some may want to dig up the old panorama photos to restitch them with Stitch 2.0, especially those panoramas showing vignetting, or black columns, or those shaped as an arc. |

Great news. I’ve got a number of panoramas with artifact problems that I’d love to be able to re-do… |

Hallelujah! When do we get to see a features list? Please tell me that “Keep projected images after alignment” is coming back! |

I was going to say that I was disappointed to have to pay extra for it, but now I see that you apparently can choose ONLY THE IMAGES YOU NEED projections for AFTER STITCHING is complete. WOOHOO! Sign me up! |

Well, stitching is complete, but I can’t select any images to save projections for. Either this is a bug, or the proper way to use the feature is evading me. |

I can confirm that the new stitcher works really well with bad image sets. For example below is a pano I shot where I made the camera FOV too wide for what it actually was so there wasn’t enough overlap between images to get a good stitch with the older stitcher. You can see that the new version does a way better job. (The EFX image adjustment features are also very nice and definitely worth the money if you shoot a lot of panos). I restitched one of my old pictures that had a horrible bend in it and 2.0 fixed it. I was quite impressed. Old bender: http://www.gigapan.com/gigapans/29638 New stitch: http://www.gigapan.com/gigapans/101135 |
